Our surgeons have trained extensively in both traditional and laparoscopic (key-hole) surgeries ensuring our patients have the best options available for them. The surgeons offer their services independently but when needed they work together in more demanding surgical procedures in order to achieve better outcomes for their patients.

When needed, the surgeons work closely with associate surgeons and physicians (eg plastics, ENT, endocrinologists or gastoenterlogists) who, together with the patient, decide on the best possible management plan and set goals for discharge. Involvement of these multi-disciplinary teams has been proven by many scientific articles that it speeds up recovery process and enhances post-operative outcomes.

Dr Demetris Galazis, MD

Specialist General Surgeon

Dr Galazis qualified from the medical school of the University of Athens in 1970. He then moved to England where he worked for 8 years. There, he worked with various world famous surgeons and gained extensive training and experience in all fields of general surgery including breast, thyroid, urology, upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. He was granted the certificate of specialist General Surgeon by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Greece in 1977. He moved back to Cyprus in 1979 where he practices since. In 1991 he founded Nicosia Polyclinic.
Boasting more than 20 000 surgical operations in his lifetime, Dr Galazis is probably the most experienced general surgeon in Cyprus.

Dr Vasilis Tsioutis, MD, PhD

Dr Tsioutis qualified from the University of Athens Medical School with MD and PhD degrees. He then pursued postgraduate training in General Surgery in various teaching hospitals in Greece where he gained huge experience in the management of general surgical conditions and procedures.

On his return to Cyprus, he has joined the private sector providing high quality surgical services for his patients. In addition, he has specialized in laser treatment of various conditions and also in acupuncture.

He is a member of the Cyprus Medical Association and the Cyprus Surgical Society.

Dr. Adamantios Michalinos MD, PhD

Consultant General Surgeon

Dr. Adamantios Michalinos is a general surgeon and lecturer of the School of Medicine, European University of Cyprus. He practices medicine from the Nicosia Polyclinic and is a member of the Cypriot National Healthcare System (G.E.S.Y)

He graduated from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece with grade “excellent”. He was trained in large University Hospitals (Laikon University Hospital) in Greece and abroad. During his training, he got familiar with the whole spectrum of general surgery. He performs “routine” operations such as inguinal hernia, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hemorrhoidectomy, thyroidectomy, and colectomy as well as specialized operations, mainly in the field of the upper gastrointestinal system. He has also attended a large number of scientific and post-graduation courses (ACLS, ATLS, ISDE, ICHPB) so to remain in contact with the latest developments in his field of expertise.

He has attended a master in surgery of hepatobiliary surgery. He defended his Ph.D. with the grade “excellent” in 2014. He has a large number of publications (>150) in renowned international scientific journals such as the American Journal of Surgery and the Diseases of the Esophagus and has participated as a speaker in many Hellenic and international congresses. He scores high values in various scientific metrics such as the number of citations (>500) and has an h-index of 11.

He is a lecturer of the school of Medicine at the European University of Cyprus where he teaches students, alongside distinguished colleagues from Cyprus and abroad. The European University of Cyprus is the first University in Cyprus to be ranked with 5 stars in the fields of Teaching, Facilities, Social Responsibility, Internationalization from QS Top Universities, an international organization that ranks universities throughout the world.
